How does Academic Pulse calculate student risk?

Academic Pulse calculates a Risk Score for each student using a weighted combination of core data points:

• Academics (50%): Average grades across all subjects, with higher weight given to core competencies.
• Attendance (30%): Punctuality and presence data. Significant drops trigger immediate alerts.
• Behavior (20%): Merit/Demerit balance and engagement metrics.

Risk Levels

Students are grouped into four risk levels:

• Low Risk (0-30%): Consistent performance and high engagement.
• Moderate Risk (31-60%): Early signs of decline or inconsistency that should be monitored.
• High Risk (61-80%): Significant decline in one or more areas that may require intervention.
• Critical Risk (81-100%): Serious concern requiring timely staff attention and follow-up.

How do staff monitor performance trends?

The dashboard uses visual summaries to help staff spot patterns quickly.

• Distribution Graphs: View class performance on a bell curve to identify outliers.
• Trend Analysis: Compare current-term performance with previous terms.
• Bottleneck Identification: Identify subjects, classes, or student groups where performance is falling behind.

What happens when a student's risk level is high?

When a student's Risk Score crosses a defined threshold, the system can support a follow-up workflow:

1. Teacher Alert: In-app notification with a data-driven diagnostic report.
2. Admin Escalation: High-risk students are surfaced for broader institutional review.
3. Parent Notification: A teacher-reviewed update can be prepared for parents or guardians.
